ECLIPSE HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Poor Eclipse was so scared when we got her. It took us a few days to get her to trust us but now she is doing great on walks and wants to sit in your lap. She is great with other dogs, especially her "brother," Emmit, whom she lived with. She is a young Rat Terrier and Chihuahua mix who is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccination, and on heartworm preventative.	GREMLIN HAS BEEN ADOPTED! We estimate that cute, little Gremlin is around 8 months old. He is scared but starting to warm up to us. He is great with the other little dogs, especially the tiny ones. We are working on building his confidence and trying to teach him to walk on a leash. He is a Wire-haired Terrier mix who is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.
LENNY HAS BEEN ADOPTED! What do you get when you cross a Brillo Pad with a raccoon? Lenny! He is one cute, little Terrier that cannot figure out what happened to his home. He is pretty timid, so we are working with him on this and think he would do best in a home without small children. He likes the other dogs and is good on a leash. We think he is around 3 years old. He is a Yorkshire Terrier mix who is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	PEPPER HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Pepper is one cute gal that could stand to lose a few pounds. She did not go up for adoption at the shelter because she was guarding resources, namely food. We are working with her on this but will not adopt her into a home with small children because of it. She should also be the only dog, or go into a home that has experience with this. Other than that, she is a happy gal that loves to go for walks. She is a Cairn Terrier mix who is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.
ABBY HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Abby is just under 3 years old and is a very sweet and affectionate girl. She loves attention and wants to hug you if she knows you. She does scream if you go to pick her up suddenly, so we are wondering if she was abused in the past. She will need a patient adopter, hopefully one with another small dog. She is a Chihuahua and Dachshund mix who is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	MARNIE HAS BEEN ADOPTED! We are not sure what Marnie is, but she is around 20 pounds and has a slight underbite. Our guess is Pug and Dachshund mix. She is super cute and still freaked out about not having a home. She certainly was well taken care of before ending up in the shelter. She is great on a leash and is really starting to warm up to. We estimate that she is around 2 years old. She is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.
DOLLY HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Dolly is a smart girl who already knows "sit" and "down." She is food aggressive towards other dogs, so she would do best as the only dog or in a home that has experience with food issues. We also will not adopt her into a home with small children because of this. That being said, she's a great gal and does well on the leash. She is frightened of new things, so her adopter will have to slowly introduce her to the world. She is a great little walker. She is a Schnauzer mix who is spayed, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	FLUFFY HAS BEEN ADOPTED! We just rescued Fluffy and are getting to know him. He sure is a happy guy! He has food issues and is overweight. He had some troubles with us taking his food away, and we are working with him on this but won't place him in a home with small children because of it. He needs someone that will take him on walks instead of giving him treats. We estimate that he is about a year old. He is a Lhasa Apso mix who is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.
MIA HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Mia is 1-2 years old and a real lovebug. She was confiscated in a neglect case and came to animal control at around 25 lbs. She is now 48 lbs. and her rough start in life has not put even a hint of a damper on her attitude about life. She's mild-mannered, walks well on a leash, loves belly rubs, interacts nicely with most dogs, and is quite athletic. She is iffy around cats, so she should not be in a home with a cat. She is a sweet, petite girl with a charming smile and deserves a loving home. She is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	GAMBLE HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Gamble is under 1 year old and is very much a puppy. He loves running around with the other dogs and jumping onto your lap and giving you kisses and any other kind of attention. He has not quite mastered walking on a leash yet. He is a Miniature Dachshund mix who is neutered, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.
RONA HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Rona came to the shelter with a cherry-eye and was pretty shook up after being abandoned in a backyard. Her eye was repaired when she was spayed and she is slowly coming around. She is a sweet gal that seems to like all the other dogs and people but would probably prefer a quiet environment. She loves going for walks, and we think she may be housebroken. She is pretty rough when taking treats, so we think she'd do best in a home with no small children. She is an adult Shih Tzu mix who is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	DYLAN HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Dylan is a cute little guy that thinks he is a big dog. He is still young and very high-energy. He is a good little walker and loves being held. He is tiny and gets along with dogs his size - the larger ones scare him a bit. He is a MIniature Pincher who is neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.
BEAU HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Someone wants to go on a car ride! Beau puts on a happy face when it's time to load up in the car because he loves going on adventures. He gets along with dogs and people but not so much with the cats. If you are looking for a dog that loves walks, jogs, and rides, this is your guy. He is an adult Collie mix who is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	KAFU HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Kafu is one handsome dude. We cannot really figure out what he is, but our best guess is Schnauzer and Terrier mix. He makes it work whatever the mix is. He is playful, likes the other dogs, and loves attention. He is young dog who is neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.
DUFFY HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Duffy was scared out of his mind at the shelter and hid under the bed the first few days after we rescued him. He is slowly coming around but will need to be in a quiet, kid-free household. He is starting to give us kisses now that he trusts us and will probably have another adjustment period after he is adopted. Good thing he is adorable and does not mind if you make his hair into a mohawk. He is around 8 months old and may be a Chinese Crested/Terrier mix. He is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	GIDDY HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Cute Giddy is very affectionate and is a good little walker. She loves to give kisses and have her belly rubbed. She does seem like she would chase cats, and so she would do best in a cat-free home. She is a young Yorkshire Terrier mix who is already spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.
PRINCESS HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Princess is around a year old and cute as can be. She is some kind of Terrier mix and weighs probably 12 lbs or so. She likes the other dogs but loves being with people even more. She is a good little walker and loves to be carried around. She is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	CINNAMON & TEDDY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED! Cinnamon and Teddy lived their whole lives together with a family. They were given up when the owners had health problems and could not care for them any more. These guys were well-taken care of because we have medical records since they were puppies. They are 7 and 8 years old and are still a bit shell-shocked, especially Teddy. That does not prevent them from having a blast with the other dogs. They want to be placed together. Cinnamon is a Chihuahua and Teddy is a Pomeranian and Lhasa Apso mix. Both guys are neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.
TASSIE HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Tassie is a sweet and attentive dog who loves walks and people but prefers female humans to males. We are working with her on this but think that a male person (or males) may have been mean to her in the past. She is a young Terrier mix who is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	ROSSI HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Cute little Rossi is a "deer" Chihuahua, which explains why she has the longest legs in town. She is a shy little girl that takes awhile to warm up to you but, once she does, you are friends forever. She is getting used to the other dogs but does not like too much rough play. She was in a home with a small child and no other pets. We think she would do best in a quiet home with other calm pets or no pets. She is just over a year old. She is spayed, micrcochipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.
RIZZO HAS BEEN ADOPTED! We are not sure what kind of mix Rizzo is but he sure is cute. We are just getting to know him and he seems to want to be held all the time. Our best guess is that he is a Yorkshire Terrier mix. He is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	LUTHER HAS BEEN ADOPTED! The shelter thought Luther was a Rat Terrier, but he acts more like a Basenji mix. Just check out the tail. He also seems to talk, not bark. He is handsome and personable, great on a leash, good in the car, and seems to like the girl dogs better than the boy dogs. He is an active guy that can keep up with the big dogs on walks. He is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.
PLUTO HAS BEEN ADOPTED! We just rescued Pluto and already know that he is a love machine! He wants to be held and to give kisses. He's a good little walker and great on a leash. He came in with his brother, Ranger, and let's Ranger boss him around even though he's bigger. He seems to like all the other dogs, but he loves people most of all. If you let him, he'll clean your whole face with kisses. He is a young Chihuahua who is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	FRESCA HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Little Fresca is so cute! He has huge ears and is a little bow-legged. She has a sweet personality as well, and she has a constantly wagging tail. He loves playing with the other dogs and being held. MITZI HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Mitzi is cute and seems to love everyone and plays well with the other dogs. She is a bit clingy and wants all the attention when people are around. This may ease up once she is comfortable in a home. She is a young Pomeranian mix who is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	BRODY HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Sweet Brody is a gentle soul that is in need of some self-confidence. He is a little shy but he is warming up. We think he's around 2 years old. He's a very good little walker! He likes all the other dogs and seems to like the cats, too. He loves to be held and get attention, even though he's a bit shy. ZENA HAS BEEN ADOPTED! This little gal was hit by a car and had a broken jaw. Zena is all healed now and ready for a home. She is probably all of 12 pounds and cute as can be. She plays with all the dogs but can be a little snarky with the other females. She is great on a leash and loves to be held. She is a young Chihuahua mix who is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	SUGAR HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Sugar is a still a youngster -- about a year old. She likes cats and wants to play with them. Also, she likes the other dogs. She is still a bit mouthy, and we do not think she was ever trained as a puppy. She is a Wire-Haired Terrier mix of some sort, has a curly tail, and is adorable. She is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.
AUTUMN HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Autumn seems to be some sort of mixture between Jack Russell Terrier, Pug, and Chihuahua. Whatever the combo was, it sure turned out cute! She likes all the other dogs and people, too. She can be a bit shy around new people but comes around as soon as she gets used to you. She is around 5 months old and is spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccinations. Her sister, Libby, is listed on the next page and is going through the final stage of being adopted.	SAMANTHA HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Poor Samantha. She was adopted and then returned because the cat attacked her and she shakes. We are not sure if she is just a shaky Chihuahua or has some other problems. She also has a bump on her nose. She has a lot working against her, but thank goodness she is the sweetest little girl you could ever met. She appreciates any little bit of attention you give her and she absolutely loves to be held. She loves the kitties despite her previous roommate. MERLIN HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Merlin is all puppy because he is active and playful and loves all the other dogs. He is adorable and loves to give kisses. We think he may be mixed with something because he has his adult teeth so he is at least 6 months. He is pretty small for that age so he probably will not be too big. He is a Blue Heeler mix who is neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.	ROLLIE HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Poor Rollie lived with an elderly lady his whole life. Then she went into a home and he went to the shelter. We can tell he is used to being spoiled and cannot figure out what is happening. We think he is around 7 years old. He would do best in a situation similar to what he is used to -- a quiet, adult-only household. He is a Maltese and Poodle mix who is neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.
MINDY HAS BEEN ADOPTED! We are not sure what breed this little cutie is. Mindy has Papillon ears and is shaped like a Schipperke, but she might have some long-haired Chihuahua in her. She sure is adorable! She loves the other dogs but is very people-oriented and would be happy in your lap all day. She is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	PEONY HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Peony looks like a mini Shepard and she is about 10 pounds. She is still very much a puppy and loves to play with people and the other dogs. She is getting the hang of walking on a leash and is pretty calm for being so young. She is a Terrier mix who is spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.
TAREN HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Taren is a cute little gal that loves attention. She is great with the other dogs and is still learning to walk on a leash. She is a pretty tiny -- around 15 pounds. She is some kind of wirehaired Terrier or Schnauzer mix. She is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	BOOKER HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Booker was too scared in the shelter to go up for adoption. His confidence is building every day! He is learning that walks are fun and loves playing with all the other dogs. He is a handsome fellow that will need an owner that will go slowly when introducing new people and things. He will make someone a wonderful companion. Opie was chewed up by something before she went into the shelter and was too afraid of other dogs to go up for adoption. He is a serious little guy that we are trying to get to lighten up. He is warming up to us every day and getting used to us. He is a wire-haired Terrier mix who is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.
LASHER HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Lasher came into the shelter as a matted mess and very fearful. We brushed him out and, boy, did he come around! He is now as happy as can be and is ready for a new home. He is turning out to be a great little walker. He is a young Lhasa Apso and Poodle mix who is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	JULE HAS BEEN ADOPTED! You can tell that Jule is used to being pampered because she is only happy in the car if she is sitting in someone's lap. Poor thing used to have a family! She loves the other dogs but, more than anything, wants to sit in your lap. If you are holding her and someone else walks by, she wants them to hold her, too. She is an older Chihuahua who is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.
BAXTER HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Baxter was too shy to go up for adoption at the shelter, but he is making great progress and is becoming more outgoing every day. This cutie is learning how to walk on a leash and starting to realize that maybe people are okay. He is a young Jack Russell Terrier mix who is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	STITCHES HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Stitches may be the cutest dog we've ever seen! He has a crazy overbite and his face is a bit pointy, but he makes it work. He loves to be held even though he wiggles and tries to hug you. He is good on a leash and a compact model -- great for an apartment dweller. He seems okay around cats and does take some time to warm up to you. We think he was a backyard dog or maybe just completely ignored. He is a special needs dog because he recently had three seizures and is on anti-seizure medicine, which he may have to take the rest of his life. Stitches is a young Chihuahua mix who is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.
MINNIE HAS BEEN ADOPTED! We think Minnie was used for breeding and then discarded. She is shy around new people and takes a bit of time until she feels comfortable. You wouldn't know that she was shy because she barks for attention once she knows you and hates to be ignored. She's not a big walker and is really looking for a nice lap in a quiet home without too many visitors. She would also offer protection as long as it was from the other side of the door. I'm afraid it's pretty hard to take her seriously when you see her since she probably less than 15 pounds. Also, she seems to be housebroken. She is a senior Chihuahua who is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	LEVI HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Poor Levi was too scared to go up for adoption at the shelter and he is still a bit shy. We are working to build his confidence, and he will need an understanding owner and would do best in a home with another dog. He has an adorable black mask and is a little sweetie. He is a young Chihuahua and Terrier mix who is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.
JOLLY WALLY HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Jolly Wally is a handsome fellow that is all Labrador. He loves the ball but is just as happy curling up in front of the TV and hanging out. He is already housebroken and could easily fit right into your life. At his foster home, he is doing great with other dogs and is quiet and does not bark much, if at all. He is patient for the most part and just wants to have some undivided attention a few times each day. He is extremely bright and catches on to what he is expected to do and to various commands quite quickly. He understands "no" or "don't" and is quick to modify his behavior when told to do so. He is just one big, sweet boy who tries very hard to do what is right and to please. We think he was well-trained and lived in a house where he was the only dog and was well-loved and cared for. He is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	RAVEN HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Raven was once a chicken dog but is now a social butterfly who loves everyone. She enjoys walks and human attention. She is a darling little dog who is some kind of black Beagle mixed with who knows what. She has a sweet and gentle personality. GROVER HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Grover is one cute Chug (Chihuahua and Pug mix). He has a serious face and a slight cherry eye. He is just the right size for city-living and would make someone a great companion. He likes other dogs and loves people. He cannot wait for you to pick him up and take him for a walk. He is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	GAVIN HAS BEEN ADOPTED! The shelter said Gavin was a Jack Russell and Chihuahua mix. He does have a bit of Jack Russell Terrier in the face but he is Chihuahua-sized. This guy is a big dog in a little package. He loves playing with the dogs and going for walks. Most of all, he likes getting attention. He is a young dog who is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.
USHER HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Usher is adorable despite having a bent-up tail. He was too scared to go up for adoption at the shelter but has come a long way since we rescued him. He has warmed right up to us and loves attention. He seems to like the girl dogs better than the boy dogs, is a great little walker, and has unusual fur because the gray fur is super short and the white fur is longer. He is a young Dachshund who is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	LUKE HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Cute little Luke loves attention! He wants to be held all day and can't get enough cuddling. He loves playing with all the other dogs and is good on a leash. He is still a baby -- under a year old. We are trying to fatten him up because he is very skinny. Luke is a Dachshund and Chihuahua mix who is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.
LUCKY HAS BEEN ADOPTED! We just rescued this cutie and we love his personality. He is a happy guy that seems to love everyone. He is good on a leash and gets along with all the other dogs. He is always smiling and happy to see you. He seems like he has a decent amount of energy and is very people-oriented. He is a 3-year-old, American Eskimo mix who is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	SCRUFFY HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Scruffy is Mr. Mellow. He just wants to hang out with you or the other dogs, and maybe go for a walk or two. We're pretty sure he was a house dog before with someone that took him for car rides because he does great. He's a compact guy that could slip right in to your life and heart. With a cute little face, he is known as a "Chug" -- a mix of Chihuahua and Pug. VELVET HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Velvet couldn't go up for adoption at the shelter because she wouldn't eat and was scared to death. We've put weight on her and she is getting used to people. She is fine with all the other dogs. She would do best in a quiet home with an adopter that understands that she will probably never be outgoing. Her confidence will increase with time, provided her new family takes things slowly with her. She is a young Dachshund mix who is spayed, micrcochipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	SOOTY HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Hard to believe there's a dog in all that fur! Sooty is hiding in there and he's adorable. He is great on a leash and loves going for walks. We just rescued him and were told that he guards his food from the other dogs. He doesn't have a roommate yet so we haven't seen this behavior. He will probably need to be fed separate from other dogs or be the only dog in the household. Also, he can't go to a home with young children. He is a young Lhasa Apso mix who is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.
ORCHID HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Orchid loves kitties and doggies, too. She is still shy around humans but does love to cuddle. She has some long legs for a Chihuahua, so she must be mixed with something. DIVINE HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Divine is a sweetheart! We're not sure what she is, but the shelter thought she was a Pekingese mix. Might be part Terrier, but who knows? CAPRI HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Capri is a little girl with a cute underbite. She is a bit shy but is warming up to people and she loves the other dogs. She is learning to walk on a leash and will need a home where they will go slow and give her the time to get used to everything. We just rescued Batgirl and she is one cute little Chug (Chihuahua and Pug mix)! Everyone loves her look, especially the bat face. VINNIE HAS BEEN ADOPTED! We just rescued Vinnie because he was too shy to go up for adoption at the shelter. Boy is he cute! ZEN HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Zen is a 10-month-old gal who is also bossy over food. This means that if she isn't the only dog in the house, then the owner will have to be present during mealtimes and pick up the food bowls when the dogs are done. Also, no treats or rawhides can be left laying around. We are working with her on this issue, and she is young enough to hopefully learn good manners. She is an active cutie that plays well with all the other dogs, does great on a leash, and loves to be held. She is a Jack Russell Terrier and Fox Terrier mix who is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped, and on heartworm preventative.
PROMISE HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Promise is still a pup, maybe 3 months old. She is your typical mouthy puppy and full of energy. We are teaching her that mouthing humans is a no-no, and she is making progress. Her adopter will have to continue with her training.ÊShe has a lot of fun with the other dogs and is cute as can be. We'd love to place her in a home with Jack Russell puppy experience because this is an intelligent and active breed. She is currently too young for both her rabies vaccination and her heartworm test. She is spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.	BRIE HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Who doesn't love a dog with an underbite? Brie is a real cutie, another one that was scared in the shelter. We won't place her in a home with small children because she's a chicken. So far, she likes the other dogs and loves to be held. We aren't really sure what she might be -- a Pekingese mix maybe? Whatever she is, she wants to be a lap dog. She is a young adult who is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.

LILY HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Lily came into the shelter as a stray, was adopted, and then was returned for being "too hyper." She seems to have just about the same amount of energy as any other Jack Russell Terriers have. We are hoping to adopt her to a family that is familiar with the breed and their energy level. ELF HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Elf is a tiny gal that looks like a mini Cattle Dog. She was very scared in the shelter but is warming up to us. NOVA HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Nova was abandoned and ran the neighborhood for two and a half months before being picked up by animal control. TYE HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Tye was just a little scared boy hiding under a blanket at the shelter. Much too shy to go up for adoption! It has only taken him a few days to get out of his shell and warm up to us. Now we just need to put a little weight on him. He likes playing with all the other dogs, loves to cuddle and give kisses, and is a good little walker. It turns out that hiding under the blanket is one of his favorite pastimes. Sometimes, when we come in in the morning, he has his blanket, bed, and food bowl on top of him. QUINCY HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Quincy is a chubby, little guy that we were told is a Beagle and Chihuahua mix. Who knows? Sure is cute! He loves all the dogs, especially his friend, Zero. He only wants to walk on the leash when he is with Zero. Otherwise, he flattens himself to the ground. We're working on it, though. He's such a little ball of cookie dough that we don't really care if he walks on a leash or not. He also likes to be held. Since he's about the size of a cat, he could easily fit into any home. Not sure what his mixed with but we've never seen a Chihuahua with such big ears. ORBIT HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Orbit is a small Chihuahua with a bad flea allergy. We're treating him with Frontline and a special shampoo, and he is getting much better because his fur is starting to grow back in. He is a cute, little guy that is a bit scared of new people. He needs someone that will take the time to get to know him and go slow with him when it comes to new people and places. He really needs someone that will keep him on flea preventative so that he can keep his fur! He gets along great with the other dogs, and we're teaching him how to walk on a leash because we don't think he ever went for walks. The shelter told us that she is bossy with other dogs and guards her food from them. This means that if she goes to a home with another dog, the owner will have to stay there during meals and remove bowls afterwards. She would not do well with another bossy dog but would probably do okay with a submissive one. She would do well as the only pet, and she does try to chase cats. PEACHY HAS BEEN ADOPTED! We just rescued Peachy and she is starting to warm up to us. She was shy and a bit scared when we got her, but she is getting used to things. He seems to like all the other dogs but is way too interested in the cats to live with them. He was in the adoptable building at the shelter for months and everyone just walked on by his cage. We had to take him when we were told his time was up -- no one could bear to let him go to doggie heaven! He has a fan club of shelter volunteers who are paying to board him until a home can be found. We think he'd do best in a home with older kids as he is just too big and goofy and might knock over smaller kids. SPICE HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Spice likes everyone -- dogs and people included. She is pretty calm and plays well with the other dogs. She also seems to be housebroken. She hates to be brushed and groomed, but she tolerates it. We think she is some kind of Lhasa Apso and Terrier mix, but she really could be anything. DOLLOP HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Dollop is still a baby -- only 3 months old. He's too young to get his rabies vaccination and comes with a voucher for a free one once he's reached four months old. He seems to like the other dogs and loves people. He is tiny -- maybe 3 pounds. He curls right up in his cat bed and is happy as can be. He is a Chihuahua who is neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.	BREWSTER HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Brewster is around 1 year old and had never seen a bathtub or groomer until we got him. He likes other dogs and people. Sometimes he needs time to warm up to you, so we suspect he was neglected in someone's backyard and never went anywhere or met anyone. He was a matted mess when we got him. He has cherry eye on one of his eyes but it is small enough that it probably doesn't need to be removed. He can't wait to have a home of his own. PICA HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Pica is still a youngster -- between 1 and 2 years old. She is very sweet and loves to give kisses. She is great in the car and great on a leash. She is very human-oriented and very smart. She should be a breeze to train. She loves all the other dogs, especially her friend Kippy. They spend most days zipping around the play yard. She would probably be a natural at agility because she can spring straight up into the air. He's still too young to get his rabies vaccination but does come with a voucher for a free one once he's four months old. He is all puppy -- an active little guy that can't sit still until he has worn himself out by playing with the other dogs. He does like to be held and give kisses. GADGET HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Gadget needs a person or two and wants to be with them all the time. He is a social butterfly and just wants to be with people and other dogs. KIPPY HAS BEEN ADOPTED! We're not really sure what breed Kippy might be, but he sure turned out cute! He likes other dogs but loves people more. He is happiest when you are carrying him around. He would love nothing more than someone that wants to pay attention to him, carry him around, and let him be near him/her. If he can't have that, he'll settle for romping around with other dogs. He especially loves his friend Pica, even though she's a bit bigger than him. They spend most days zipping around together. RANGER HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Ranger is super cute and very sweet and does like to give kisses. He's great on a leash and a good little walker. If you want a little dog that can keep up with you on walks, he is your guy. He came in with his brother, Pluto. He's the smaller of the two but also the bossy one. He thinks he's king of the castle, which is funny since he's the size on a small cat! He is not one of those shy, quivering little dogs at all, and he has tons of self-confidence. Sienna is still a baby, just 3 months old, and very petite. She loves to be held and give kisses and seems to like the other dogs. She is good on a leash and great in the car. However, she has not had her rabies vaccination yet because she is too young and so she will come with a voucher to have it done as soon as she is at least 4 months old.
WHISPER HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Now hiring a belly rubber! Whisper loves to get belly rubs. We just rescued her and don't know too much about her yet, but if you're good at the belly rub, you're in. She is another shy gal whom we think is around 4 years old but prematurely gray in the muzzle due to worry. She looks like she's had puppies not too long ago. Who knows what has happened to her before we got her? She is pretty good on a leash and seems like she's gone for walks before but maybe not that often. She needs an understanding, quiet home with people that will go slow and gently show her new things. Whisper is a small Terrier and Chihuahua mix who is spayed, current on vaccinations, and microchipped.	FERN HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Sweet Fern is looking for a lap to sit in. We just rescued her and it seems like she still doesn't know what happened and why she ended up without a home. She will need a very understanding new person that will help her regain her confidence. A nice lap sure would help, too. She really is a sweetie and just wants to be held. According to her foster care provider, she is doing much better and is settling into life in our house. She is eating and moving around a lot more. She is still really, really submissive and we still have to be careful to not look at her directly unless she is cuddled in our lap on the couch and then she can handle it. She enjoys exploring the yard off leash and she runs around in the house and follows us from room to room. My husband has been taking her to work with him and she just sleeps in her little bed under his desk. She still shows no interest in the cats. Basically, she's a really sweet and easy dog. BLOSSOM HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Sweet little Blossom is a long Chihuahua mix who is also a gentle soul. She loves people and her Chihuahua friend, Brody. She even tried to make friends with the cats, but the cats weren't too thrilled about that. We think she is around 3 years old and housebroken. We know that she loves the belly rub and that she's good on a leash. She is athletic and can climb up the ex-pen like it's a ladder when she sees her favorite person. Echo is super sweet and loves the other dogs. She has a great personality. She acts like she's a big dog when she's out in the yard, romping and barking with the rest of the gang. Once she's inside, she is ready to be picked up and held, so she loves attention. She's great in the car and just the right size to take everywhere. She's a compact gal with long legs and a nice short coat. We think she's around 2 years old. MR. PICKLES HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Poor Mr. Pickles came into the shelter as a stray and sat in the adoptable building for months. Black and dark brown dogs do not stand out in the kennels and can have a hard time getting adopted. By the time his time was up, we had fallen in love with his sad face, funny walk, and love of belly rubs. We did not have a foster home available, but we just could not let this one go to doggy heaven. We have been boarding him at a great place where he gets to play with other dogs and spend all day out in the yards looking at horses and bunnies. He had a best friend and playmate, Travis, but he got adopted. Then he made a new best friend and playmate, Paco. Now he is getting adopted. Mr. Pickles is always the bridesmaid and never the bride! He is such a character and a real sweetie. All he wants is a home to call his own. He knows "sit" and "down". KARMA HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Karma came into the shelter as an owner-surrender. After waiting for a home, she was finally adopted, but was brought back about a month later with a torn ACL tendon. She's had surgery to repair the tendon but will need to take it easy on her leg for several more months. She is a very sweet and happy Labrador Retriever mix. She loves to cuddle and relaxes in new environments quickly, does not bark at all unless someone knocks at the door, and seems secure but likes to be by your side. She will go in the other room and get on a bed if there is no more room on the sofa. She is just quiet and agreeable and seems fine with other dogs. She is a really easy dog to deal with, and sometimes we forget she is even here because she is so quiet and mellow once she is out of her crate for a few minutes. PUNKY HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Punky is tiny -- just under 5 pounds. He does have a lot of spunk and likes to drag all his toys into his cat bed and sleep with them. He seems to get along well with all the other dogs and especially likes playing with Skittles, who is a Chihuahua that is at least twice his size. He loves to be held, and I'm afraid he's already spoiled. He's getting better on the leash but could still use a little work. I think he's grown accustomed to being carried around. JADEN HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Super shy Jaden is still a puppy and so we estimate her at around 6 months old. She hasn't seen too much of the world and gets scared around new people. She needs an understanding adopter that will go slow with her and help her build up her confidence. We are working at exposing her to new people, places, and things, and she is slowly coming around. She will likely never be a super confident dog, but she is pretty sweet and seems to like all the other dogs and cats. Jaden is a Chihuahua mix who is already spayed, microchipped, on heartworm preventative, and current on vaccinations.	NUGGET HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Nugget is one of the longest Chihuahua mixes we've ever seen. We're guessing that she's mixed with Dachshund. She also has pretty long legs for her size. Whatever she is, she is a real sweetie and still a baby. She is a gentle soul that is waiting for her forever home. She was very scared in the shelter and is warming up to us very well. HARPER HAS BEEN ADOPTED! We just rescued this cutie, so we don't know too much about him yet. Harper is a wirehaired or rough-coat Jack Russell Terrier and he acts every bit of it. He is a great little walker but thinks he is big enough to take on the horses. Wikipedia says that a Jack Russell Terrier's high energy and drive make these dogs ideally suited to a number of different dog sports, such as flyball or agility. Obedience classes are recommended to potential owners as these dogs can be stubborn at times and aggressive towards other animals and humans if not properly socialized (a process that should continue throughout their whole lives). Despite their small size, these dogs are not recommended for the condominium or apartment dweller unless the owner is ready to take on the daunting task of providing the dog with the necessary amount of exercise and stimulation. They are truly a big dog in a small package, and most suffer from a "Napoleon complex", which can sometimes lead to trouble involving larger animals. An owner must be aware of these tendencies and keep an eye out for trouble in many situations. Despite some of these negative traits, they are exceptionally loving, intelligent dogs who have the ability to entertain their owners for hours with their comical antics. We thought he was the perfect dog, then he settled in and started to feel comfortable. That's when we discovered he has food-guarding issues. We will only adopt him into a home with no kids and no other dogs. We'd love to find him a home with people that have experience with food issues and the patience to work with him on it. ANGEL HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Angel is a real cutie! She loves people and other dogs and doesn't seem to mind cats too much. She is good on a leash and seems okay in the car. She is very good on a leash and loves to go for a walk. We think she hasn't been exposed to very many things in her life and is very cautious of anything new. We don't want to place her in a home with small children because she would probably be scared of them. She would be a great apartment or condo dog because she's about the size of a cat. It doesn't have to be a big lap either because he is teeny weeny. He is very affectionate and loves to give kisses. He gets along with the dogs we've introduced him to so far and doesn't seem to mind cats. We just rescued him so we are learning more about him every day. Wikipedia says that Chihuahuas are not well-suited as small children's pets because of their size, temperament, and tendency to bite when frightened. It is recommended that children be school-aged or older before adding a Chihuahua to one's home. Also, many Chihuahuas focus their devotion on one person, becoming overly jealous of that person's human relationships. This can be mitigated through socialization. Chihuahuas also tend to have a "clannish" nature, often preferring the companionship of other Chihuahuas over other dogs. He is a young adult who is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.
NIKKOS HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Nikkos is an Eskimo and Briard mix and is around 8 years old. He was an indoor family member until he became a victim of an expanding household when a new baby came along. Then, he lived outside and eventually out of the household completely. He seems to get along with other dogs and has been around horses. He is in obedience training with "The Dog Lady." Check out her website at www.thedoglady.org. They will offer a free class to his adopter, and this training will also include doggy socialization. He has conquered "sit," "down," and loose leash-walking. It seems that the family that Nikkos lived with fed him from the table and so he has become very interested in people food. For this reason, we do not want to place him in a family with young children. He enjoys walks but mostly likes to hang out with people. This handsome boy can't wait to find a real home. He is housebroken, neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.	AUGIE HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Augie was super scared at the shelter and cowered in his run. He's now showing us that he's a happy, curious little guy. He loves the other dogs and playing with toys. He seems to love people, too, but he gets scared about new things. For this reason, we don't want to place him in a home with small children. We think he is a Dachshund and Chihuahua mix. He's got the longest ears we've ever seen on such a shortie. Augie is around 6 months old, neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.
DOLBY HAS BEEN ADOPTED! We just rescued Dolby from the shelter where he was very scared. Turns out that he's a cuddler and just wants to be held. He seems to like all the other dogs and rolling around on his belly. He loves toys and having his picture taken. We think that he is a long-haired Dachshund and Chihuahua mix. Dolby is around 2 years old, neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	SPRECKLES HAS BEEN ADOPTED! We think Spreckles is a Jack Russell Terrier mix. You can't really tell from her picture, but she is white with little black spots on her. She was too frightened to be adopted out of the shelter, but we will work to build up her confidence. We don't want to place her in a home with small children since she is a bit skittery. She is just a baby -- around 8 months old. We just rescued her, but she seems to like all the other dogs. Spreckles is already spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.
INDIA HAS BEEN ADOPTED! India is a Deagle - in other words, a Dachshund and Beagle mix. She is a mini one at that, and we think the Dachshund half was a mini Dachshund because she is really tiny. She is still a baby - around 8 months old. She does not like to have you take her chew bone. We think that no one ever set rules for her in her short life, and we are working to correct this. We won't adopt her into a home with small children because of it. She is, however, about as cute as a dog can get. India is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.	LULU HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Lulu is a young Pit Bull and American Bulldog mix. She and her litter mates were scheduled to be put down because they had a skin condition called demodex - commonly known as puppy mange. We rescued these cuties and treated them. Her demodex did come back, however, so she had to undergo a second treatment. Her litter mates have all been placed in wonderful homes, and so she is now ready to go. She will have no lasting effects from the demodex, and she is now a happy and chubby little girl who likes car rides and other dogs. She is spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.
PACO HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Paco is around a year old, so he is still a youngster, and he loves to play with his doggie friends. He's a handsome boy and quite an interesting looking fellow because he has a Labrador Retriever-type body but with lots of whiskers. We're guessing that he may have some Schnauzer or Irish Wolfhound mixed in with the Labrador Retriever. He would do great with an active home and would be a good jogging buddy. He acts like a young Labrador Retriever and has a decent amount of energy. He is a real sweetie and loves to give kisses. He is neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations, and he has just started an obedience course.	FOXY HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Foxy is a timid girl who is around 4 years old and weighs about 18 pounds. We think she is a Jack Russell Terrier and Welsh Corgi mix. She needs a quiet home with small or calm dogs. She's fine with them as long as they don't jump all over her. She is housebroken, loves to walk, and does great in the car. She may be possessive with food, and so we are working with her on it. For this very reason and due to her shyness, we will not place her with small children. She is a little nervous until she plays ball and lights up. She will drop the ball at your feet and spin in a circle until you throw it for her. She is spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.
