Friends of Sac City Shelter Animals, Inc. is organized exclusively for charitable purposes. The specific charitable purpose for which it is organized is to assist in getting animals from the City of Sacramento Animal Shelter and environs adopted into good homes. The main activity of the organization is to assist animals from the city shelter and environs by placing their pictures and any known information about them on our website, www.saccityshelter.com. Animals come from multiple sources, including the City of Sacramento Animal Shelter, strays, found and owner-surrendered animals. Volunteers from the organization house the animals until a suitable home is located.
Friends of Sac City Shelter Animals, Inc. is funded solely by public donations. Donations help support our efforts to assist the animals that come to the City of Sacramento Animal Shelter through no fault of their own. Through our website, www.saccityshelter.com, many dogs and cats have found new homes and many have been rescued from the shelter and placed in temporary foster homes until permanent, loving homes can be found for them.
Several times a week, a team of two people from our group, Friends of Sac City Shelter Animals, Inc., meet at the shelter to view the animals that are available for adoption. The team selects adoptable animals (such as dogs, cats, bunnies, and guinea pigs), notes the available information about the animal, takes their picture, and completes the paperwork for placing rescue holds on the animals so that their time at shelter is extended in hopes that someone will come and adopt them. We also rescue animals from the shelter that have become ill or need special attention. These animals are taken to the veterinarian for medical care and placed in foster care. Foster care is provided by the individuals in our group and volunteers who open their hearts and their homes to give these animals tender, loving care and a safe, nurturing environment.
Through generous donations such as yours, it makes it possible for us to help the animals that come to the shelter by providing them an opportunity to be adopted by viewing them on our website, and to help with medical care and foster care expenses.
